This I believe summary and response

This I believe summary and response was a fun starter project that helped me understand how to create future summary and responses. It was also fun to see what people believed in and just reading multiple stores.    One This I believe essay that really caught my attention was written by Cecile Gilmer called “The People Who Love You When No One Else Will". Gilmer wrote about  how  Barbra and Roland   took her in when she was living in a cramped motel with her dad. She then goes on to explain how they took care of her for seven years before she went to college. The interesting part was that Barbra and Roland kept her room the same for the four years she was at school waiting for her to come back as if she was their kid. Another part was how she had her guard up and  did not  believe people could help her and take care of her, but Barbra and Roland changed her mind and  that is  something I really enjoyed about reading this story. Cecile Gilmer ...

Melissa Rubin Reading Response

Advertisements R Us by Melissa Rubin was an essay about a coca-cola ad. Rubin Broke down the ad and explained everything she could about the ad. Reading this essay helped me prepare for project two. Advertisements R Us was written by Melissa Rubin when she was a student at Hofstra University. In her article, she brings insight into how companies persuade consumers to support their products. Rubin then starts her  article  by describing the details that are seen in the ad and the message it is trying to convey. She notes that the people in the ad are mostly white and explains how a society use to be. Rubin also indicates that the way the ad is set up gives the consumer a sense of pride seeing the men in uniform.    Rubin has a good way of breaking things down and organizing her article to the point that it's easy to understand and makes you want to keep reading. I like how Melissa starts off by explaining how companies have cleverly tailored advertisements to t...

Polished Draft, Project 2 (Hope Poster)

In project 2 we had to find an ad from the 20th century and break it down into an essay. My ad was the famous Obama Hope Poster, and I talked about the creator and what the poster stands for. This project helped me better understand how to write to an audience. This project also helped me think outside the box to write 1000 words over a simple poster and seeing how there's a lot of stories behind a simple poster, we just have to look into the little things. P eer review helps me develop collaborative  writing processes by getting my friend's feedback on my essay and also by me giving them feedback I can get some ideas of what to put in my essay. The "Hope" poster is an image of Barack Obama made by artist Shepard Fairey in  two  thousand  and eight .  It took Fairey only one day to make the design. Fairey started by creating street posters of the image then it quickly grew into digital copies and propaganda  ( Fairey) . The image became one of the mo...
